St. Ann man accused of embezzling nearly $20K from Trocofab
ST. LOUIS – The former controller for a metal manufacturer and fabricator is accused of embezzling nearly $20,000 from the company.
According to a probable cause statement from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the crime happened between May 31, 2024, and Jan. 3, 2025, at the Trocofab headquarters on Macklind Avenue in The Hill neighborhood.
Police began their investigation on May 1 after being contacted by Trocofab’s current controller, who reported the embezzlement.
The controller said his predecessor, Christopher McDonald, 36, alerted the company payroll, submitted forged payroll review reports, and would add expense reimbursements for himself after approval. McDonald allegedly did this on 11 separate occasions.
Police said McDonald embezzled $19,500 over the course of his scheme.
The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office charged McDonald with nine counts of stealing – $750 or more, one count of forgery, and one count of stealing. McDonald was released on his own recognizance and ordered to appear in court on Thursday, Oct. 16.
