Sports Illustrated brings elite female athletes to Oceanside this fall for SI Women's Games

OCEANSIDE, CALIF. (FOX 5/KUSI)— The best women athletes from around the world will make a stop in Oceanside this fall to show off their skills in a plethora of sports at the SI Women's Games.

The inaugural event runs from Oct. 28 through Nov. 2 at the Frontwave Arena in Oceanside. It will feature more than 120 of the world's best women athletes competing in six different sports, including flag football, judo and wrestling, volleyball, gymnastics, basketball and tennis.

Throughout the week-long groundbreaking event, there will be a series of individual and team competitions as "Team Americas" will face off against "Team World" for the first-ever SI Women's Games title. The athletes will also be competing for overall team prize purses.

On Thursday, the first series of participants competing at the event was announced, featuring notable names from the professional women's sports world, including American tennis player Sloane Stephens, who won her first Grand Slam title at the US Open in 2017.

WNBA All-Star Dearica Hamby of the Los Angeles Sparks will also compete in the event.

Other names announced in the first wave of athletes also include Diana Flores, the quarterback of Mexico's Women's Flag Football National Team, American gymnast Jade Carey, Colorado native and volleyball superstar Jordyn Poulter and American freestyle wrestler Helen Maroulis.

Tickets for the inaugural event range from $25-$180 for one-day passes, while children under 12 years of age are eligible for a discounted rate. There will also be military and senior discounts available.
