Soulard residents sue of fire-damaged historic church
ST. LOUIS – A group in Soulard is suing the owner of a historic church that caught fire two years ago.
Our news partners at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch report the Soulard Restoration Group filed the lawsuit, asking a judge to appoint a third party to take control of the Church of God at Gravois and Allen avenues.

The group calls the dilapidated church an eyesore and unsafe and wants a new developer to restore the property.
The lawsuit also alleges that the church’s owner, Soulard Properties Group, has racked up more than $1,000 in building code fines since the fire and owes more than $8,000 in unpaid property taxes.
The church’s owner has yet to comment.
