Solento Surf Fest brings popular films, surfers, musicians to La Paloma
ENCINITAS, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) – The Solento Surf Festival will conclude with a three-day showcase of the year’s most exciting surf films at La Paloma Theatre, Encinitas’ original hometown theatre and San Diego’s oldest, from Thursday, Sept. 18 through Saturday, Sept. 20.
Featured screenings include “September Sessions,” remastered, including panel conversations with director Jack Johnson and surfers Rob Machado and Brad Gerlach, “Snakes and Surf Breaks” with director Luka Raubenheimer and “Snapt5: The Final Cut” with director Logan Guliean and featured surfers.
In addition to the screenings and panel discussions, attendees can also enjoy live music, raffles, food and drinks. Click here for a complete list of films, showtimes and tickets. Proceeds from raffles and drink sales benefit the Surfrider Foundation.
Created by Solento founder, filmmaker and Surfer Magazine’s “25 Most Powerful People in Surfing” honoree Taylor Steele, the week-long festival celebrates surf culture in its many forms, blending surf, film, art and music with Solento’s “take it slow” philosophy.
"I`m thrilled to bring the Solento Surf Festival back to my hometown for a fifth year," said Steele. "Each year, the festival grows into a stronger community celebration of surf culture - while encouraging us all to slow down and be present. With Outerknown as our partner, this year`s experience will be our most immersive yet."
La Paloma Theatre is a key part of Encinitas, hosting many community functions throughout the year, including several exclusive surf films. Over the years, many performers have graced the stage, including Eddie Vedder and Loreena Mckennitt.
