Skating principal goes national: STL educator featured on Kelly Clarkson show

LADUE, Mo. - She's the St. Louis-area principal who rolled her way into our hearts.

And now, she’s rolling into the national spotlight.

When FOX 2 first introduced you to Dr. Stacy Carlock, her creative way of motivating students and teachers went viral.

Roller skating through the school halls to spread joy and energy, Carlock is fresh off an appearance on “The Kelly Clarkson Show.”

At Ladue Early Childhood Center, principal Carlock laces up every day, skating from classroom to classroom to keep spirits high and remind her teachers that positivity matters.

Her videos, full of laughter and energy, took off online, viewed thousands of times and shared across social media.

“The kids saw me rolling around and they were like, ‘Oh my word. What is going on here?’ And that was a few years ago and now it's normal,” Carlock said.

That viral buzz caught the attention of “The Kelly Clarkson Show.”

“It is my absolute honor to do this and I love it. I owe it to my fantastic team,” Carlock told the audience.

“You are so special. You are,” Kelly Clarkson said to Dr. Carlock.

“Thank you so much,” Carlock responded back.

Clarkson, who praised Dr. Carlock’s joyful leadership surprised her with a Hawaiian vacation.

“I was very surprised. When I got a message from ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show,’ I thought it was spam. I did not believe it. My staff was like, ‘Lets look up this name to see if it's real.’ And it was real. I just could not believe it, I was in shock,” Carlock told FOX 2. “I was so thankful and gratefully humbled by the opportunity.”
