Single-vehicle crash on I-5 at northern San Diego County edge impacts traffic
(FOX 5/KUSI) — A single-vehicle crash on northbound I-5 near the border between San Diego and Orange counties early Monday morning heavily impacted traffic on the interstate.
The single vehicle crashed around 7:40 a.m. on northbound I-5, just west of Camp Pendleton, according to the California Highway Patrol's logs.
All lanes of the interstate were stopped for some time, the agency said on X.
A later post said the vehicle was blocking lanes 3 and 4, which are the slower of the four lanes, and that "helicopters will be landing to provide medical transport."
In an update at 8:15 a.m., the CHP said all lanes in both directions had reopened except for lane 4 in the northbound direction.
Google Maps showed a traffic backup in the northbound lanes that stretched for several miles to Oceanside.
