Serial thief steals $20K worth of perfume at Ulta Beauty: St. Louis County PD
ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. -- A man from Michigan was charged with 16 counts of stealing after allegedly taking $20,000 worth of perfume from an Ulta Beauty in St. Louis County.
According to court documents, Jamal Shepard, 40, of Ypsilanti, Michigan, near Detroit, was seen on surveillance video entering the store located at 4120 Elm Park Rd. in Melville from Apr. 9 through Apr. 18.
Police said Shepard entered the Ulta Beauty 31 times with his face covered with either a bandana or a plastic shopping bag. He was also seen shirtless or wearing a t-shirt with black pants and a black ball cap.
Shepard allegedly went directly to the fragrance section of the store each time he entered to take designer perfume testers and full fragrance bottles.
Police waited for him outside the Ulta Beauty on Apr. 18, when he left the store after stealing 3 perfume testers worth $545. Police searched his backpack and found $786 worth of fragrances he had stolen from the store the day before.
Sheperd has been charged with 16 counts of stealing $750 or more and was served a warrant for his arrest on Thursday. He received a $50,000 bond and is awaiting a preliminary hearing on Sept. 15.
