Searching for the killer: Did a video of money lead to an ambush?
ST. LOUIS -- A double murder in broad daylight inside a busy apartment building. Despite witnesses, no one came forward to help the police. Investigators hope someone seeing this story will break the silence and bring peace to two grieving mothers.
The murders happened in the 700 block of Carr Street just north of downtown on July 1 two years ago. Two men, 24-year-old Andre Randolph and his cousin 26-year-old Sylvester Phillips were discovered shot and killed inside of an apartment. St. Louis police say the two were robbed. It appears they were ambushed and didn't have time to defend themselves.
Andre's mother, Ericka West, believes a video posted by her son the day before showing money is the reason he was killed. St. Louis Police investigated leads over the past couple of years but couldn't get anyone to come forward with information that would lead to an arrest.
Police believe someone that day heard something that could make a big difference in the case. They are asking for the public's help. Police want people who saw vehicles they didn't recognize that day or suspects wearing clothing that seemed too heavy for the weather or their faces covered up to let them know.
Andre and Sylvester's mothers believe someone has the information the police need and they're pleading for them to come forward. The families want justice.
