San Diego State Aztecs dominate Stony Brook in home opener, 42-0

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- College football got off to a great start for the San Diego State University Aztecs as they shut out the Stony Brook Seawolves during Thursday night's home opener at Snapdragon Stadium.

SDSU stayed in control from the top of the game and secured a 42-0 win against Stony Brook in what was the very first match-up ever between the two teams.

Lucky Sutton placed the Aztecs on the scoreboard early, running 100 yards on 22 carries. Jacob Bostick caught a 25-yard throw from quarterback Jayden Denegal in the end zone.

Meanwhile, Gabriel Plascencia contributed field goals of 42 and 35 yards before halftime, with the Aztecs leading 20-0.

Sutton made his second touchdown with a minute and 30 seconds left in the third quarter.

Christian Washington also made a large contribution to the victory, with a 9-play, 61-yard advance ended with a single-yard touchdown, driving SDSU to a 35-point lead.

Parker Threatt closed out the game with a five-yard touchdown as Nick Clegg kicked the extra point, capping the Aztecs' blowout win.

The Aztecs will head up north to Pullman to face the Washington State Cougars next Saturday, Sept. 6.
