The Padres will be wearing special replica jerseys during their batting practice Saturday before taking on the Boston Red Sox at Petco Park at 5:40 p.m. The jerseys will be replicas of those worn by four different high schools in Texas that were affected by the flooding in early July.
The Red Sox will also be wearing the replica jerseys during their batting practice Saturday.
The Texas high schools that the teams will be honoring are Center Point High School, Comfort High School, Ingram Tom Moore High School and Kerrville Tivy High School.

The Missions will also be wearing the jerseys on the same day as they take the field for their Flood Relief Fundraising Game at home against the Springfield Cardinals while donning the special threads.
The jerseys worn by the Missions players will be auctioned immediately after the game, with all proceeds going to the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund and other Missions partnerships dedicated to flood relief.
The jerseys that the Padres and Red Sox will wear will be available via an online auction the following week, with more details to be announced.
“The San Diego Padres are proud to join the Boston Red Sox and our Double-A Affiliate, San
Antonio Missions to support communities in the Texas Hill Country that were devastated by recent floods,” said Padres CEO Erik Greupner in a press release. “Alongside the Red Sox and Missions, we are committed to aiding relief efforts for those who have been displaced or affected so that they can begin to rebuild.”
While it usually takes months to produce these types of jerseys, Wilson Sporting Goods is supplying the special replicas in response to the floods that occurred in July.
The Padres have close ties to their San Antonio affiliate, as six former players from the Missions currently play for San Diego, including MLB All-Star Fernando Tatis Jr., as well as centerfielder Jackson Merrill.
