San Diego-area beach closures, advisories in effect for Labor Day
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Several beaches in San Diego County are currently closed or placed under safety advisories for the Labor Day holiday.
The County of San Diego Department of Environmental Health and Quality reminds the public to avoid coming into contact with water in the following areas, which are closed due to bacteria levels exceeding health standards.
- Tijuana Slough shoreline from the U.S.-Mexico border (closed since Dec. 8, 2021)
- Silver Strand shoreline from north of Carnation Avenue to south of Avenida Lunar (closed since Aug. 31)
- Coronado shoreline near Avenida Lunar (closed since August 31)
- Imperial Beach shoreline from the south end of Seacoast Drive through Imperial Beach Pier (closed since Aug. 2)
Meanwhile, the following areas have been placed under advisories:
- Mission Bay at North Bonita Cove, 150 feet on either side of the restroom complex (closed since Aug. 27)
- La Jolla Cove beachline (closed since July 22)
- Del Mar at San Dieguito River outlet and 150 feet north and south of the area (closed since Aug. 26)
- La Jolla Children's Pool (closed since September 1997)
- Cardiff State Beach at San Elijo Lagoon Outlet (closed since Aug. 20)
