Russians surrendered to Ukrainian robot without knowing it was robot

Russian forces did not even think about who was shooting at them. They just heard a machine gun nearby and decided to surrender. It turned out to be an armed ground robotic complex, says the head of the combat training group of the 131st Separate Reconnaissance Battalion, known as Mengel.

Heavy versions of these ground systems can carry up to 500 kilograms of cargo and traverse tens of kilometers over rough terrain. Their functionality constantly expands: the platforms conduct logistics operations, drone evacuations, and drone deliveries without risking human lives.

This happened on the Huliaipole direction. It has not been the first case when Ukrainian soldiers captured Russians with the support of a ground robotic complex.

Reconnaissance tactics: combining foot patrols with robotic support

“Whoever fired that machine gun at them, it was enough for them to make the right decision,” Mengel explains.

The soldiers have used ground robotic complexes during clearing operations in populated areas, both as independent combat units and as part of groups.

“Behind this robotic complex were our soldiers, who directly took these fighters under fire control and brought them into captivity,” Ukraine's defender says.

Ukrainian troops have celebrated every capture of enemy soldiers because it helped increase the exchange fund for returning Ukrainian prisoners of war.

“We have teams that operate on foot. They conduct reconnaissance and search operations in settlements where the enemy managed to infiltrate and establish positions thanks to their tactics," Mengel adds.

Ground robotic complexes reshape combat and clearing operations

When these reconnaissance, search, or clearing operations take place, the enemy is exposed and is very often unable to avoid fire contact.

A fight breaks out, and the enemy either becomes temporarily neutralized or realizes their situation and surrenders. Ukrainian soldiers cannot refuse them, as replenishing the exchange fund is also an important task.
