Details: Correspondence between various contractors involved in manufacturing certain components for the military aircraft shows that the contract between Rosoboronexport and Iran (referred to in the documents as "foreign customer K10") has been implemented in a planned manner over recent years. The agreement was signed on 10 June 2021.
Among the contractors involved are the Zvezda research and production company (manufacturer of ejection seats), the Irkut Corporation (export within the United Aircraft Corporation and production of jet aircraft), the Institute of Polymer Materials research and production company (development of propellants, solid rocket fuel, low-gas components and charges based on them) and the Perm Gunpowder Plant (production of gunpowder and explosives).
One of the documents states that, according to the schedule, supplies of products for the manufacture of "PK-5 pyrotechnic kits" (used in the ejection seats of Yak-130 and Su-35 aircraft) under the contract with Iran are to take place between March and May 2026.
Background:
- On 4 March, an Israeli fifth-generation F-35 fighter jet shot down a piloted aircraft for the first time. The confirmed target was a Russian-made Yak-130 aircraft.
- On 6 March, The Washington Post, citing three officials familiar with intelligence data, reported that Russia is providing Iran with intelligence on the locations of US military ships and aircraft in the Middle East.
- On 10 March, Steve Witkoff, US President Donald Trump's Special Envoy, said that Russia's leadership had rejected claims it is sharing intelligence with Iran during the war.
