Details: Volunteers came to the frightened animal's aid.

Concerned local residents reported that the deer needed rescuing. A video shows that residents were unable to pull it out by its legs because the car was blocked by the pavement on the accessible side. In addition, when people approached, the terrified animal began crying out and hitting itself against the car.

Quote: "Exactly what happened can only be guessed. The animal was probably terrified by the noise of explosions during the night and, in panic, looked for any shelter. Otherwise it is difficult to explain how a wild roe deer ended up under a car in the middle of a city."

KARG staff eventually managed to safely free the roe deer. It turned out to be badly injured and was in a serious condition when it was handed over to the Wild Animal Rescue Centre, where it will receive expert care.

Quote: "This night was another reminder that war doesn't just affect people. It also has consequences for those who are not even able to understand what is happening around them."

Background: After the attack on 24 May, an exhausted cat with burns was found in Kyiv after spending three days under rubble. She was named Artemida for her endurance and will to survive. Despite the efforts of volunteers and veterinarians, the cat died a few days later.
