Road closures, detours in place this weekend in Poway for annual parade
POWAY, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Some roads in Poway will be closed this weekend for the annual Poway Rotary Parade, a longtime tradition in the city which attracts hundreds of people each year.
The parade, which takes place on Saturday, September 13, is designed to promote community spirit and provide entertainment for spectators. This year marks the 60th edition of the event.
In preparation for Saturday's parade, the City of Poway is advising commuters to plan ahead for scheduled road closures and detours in the area.
At 6 a.m., the following roads are expected to be closed off to traffic:
- Northbound Pomerado Road between Stowe Drive and Poway Road
- Southbound Pomerado Road between Poway Road and Oak Knoll Road
- Metate Lane and Poquito Street access to Pomerado Road
- Old Pomerado Road, Boulder View and Oak Knoll Road. No access to northbound Pomerado Road
At 8:30 a.m., Poway Road will be closed in both directions between Pomerado and Community roads.

The 60th annual Poway Rotary Parade is expected to begin at 9 a.m., rain or shine, from Pomerado and Poway roads to Bowron Road.
