Restaurant worker raids expose reported packed suburban homes
ST. PETERS, Mo. - Not far from Interstate 70 near the Cave Springs exit is a restaurant so popular, people were constantly pulling up while FOX 2 was there.
They were surprised that federal agents raided Golden Apple Buffet in St. Peters along Mexico road Tuesday.
“I seen you guys so I knew it was a problem,” Antonio Bishop said.
It was one of at least three St. Peters locations raided by the feds. A video from a viewer shows federal agents raiding property with reported restaurant workers on Park Charles Boulevard South—followed by a drone.
A person who answered the door of the home Wednesday said she didn’t speak English.
Neighbors said they witnessed as many as 20 people inside the home detained Tuesday, people they reported seeing picked up and driven to the restaurant in the past.
Then there’s a second St. Peters home.
Missouri Secretary of State records list the registered agent of the restaurant as Guo Liang Ye, with a listed address of Bruns Lane Court. We also noticed five cars in the driveway—all with out-of-state plates from New York, Georgia, Ohio, Virginia and Texas.
That’s half as many cars as neighbors there say they’re used to seeing. Neighbors also report about 15-20 people detained from that home as well.
A person who answered the door at Bruns Lane Court said he also didn’t speak English. He used his hands to indicate there were arrests.
Federal authorities are not yet giving solid numbers. FOX 2 is now tracking what comes up in court.
“It was a good place. I guess they were hustling,” Bishop said.
There’s no indication of when or if Golden Apple Buffet will reopen. Now, there are additional questions about whether a second location will even open.
