Proud to Serve: Millstadt, IL paramedic receives $500 for her service to the community

ST. LOUIS - Each month on FOX 2, we salute local first responders, military, or veterans with our Proud to Serve award.  This month, we shine the spotlight on Gabrielle Johnson, who serves her community of Millstadt, IL as a paramedic.

Gabrielle was nominated by her fiancé who tells us

Gabrielle Johnson is a truly driven and compassionate Paramedic who consistently goes above and beyond for those she serves. Her empathy, strength, and unwavering dedication are evident in everything she does—whether she's responding to calls in the field or taking care of her family at home.

Gabrielle is a working mom to two young boys and is soon to welcome four more children and young adults into her heart and home. As her fiancé, words can’t fully express how proud I am of her perseverance and determination. She amazes me every single day—whether she's in uniform or simply being the incredible person, she is.

Over the past few years, Gabrielle has managed to work full-time, often pulling extra overtime shifts on a demanding 24/48 schedule (120-hour pay periods). At the same time, she took on the intense challenge of Paramedic school—a 15-month program packed with full-time coursework, clinicals, and internships. She successfully graduated at the end of the year, stepping confidently into the next chapter of her career.

Now, she’s even considering returning to college to become an OB nurse—a reflection of her constant desire to grow and serve others. Gabrielle is the rock of our household, and I couldn’t be more proud of the incredible woman, provider, and partner she is.

Gabrielle Johnson receives $500 from Brown & Brown Law Firm and FOX 2’s Proud to Serve Award.   If you would like to nominate a 1st responder, military or veteran, click here.
