Proud to Serve: Officer Richard Placke, of Festus, MO, receives $500 for his service to the community.

ST. LOUIS - Each month on FOX 2, we salute local first responders, military, or veterans with our Proud to Serve award. This month, we shine the spotlight on Gabrielle Johnson who serves her community of Millstadt, IL as a paramedic.

Richard was nominated by his mother who tells us

He's an outstanding Police Officer as well as the Festus High School Resource Officer who is well respected by All the kids at the high school and the Festus community. He consistently demonstrates patience, honesty, fairness and accountability in all his actions. He is dedicated to his community, his students and his fellow officers as well as a devoted Father, Husband and Son. He  always puts others first and never ever thinks of himself. He was awarded Officer of the Year this year, 2025. He is definitely a Hero in Everyone's eyes except his own. I would love to be able him not only because I'm his Mother but he's my Hero too!
