Potentially record-breaking heat continues ahead of a cooldown
SAN DIEGO (FOX5/KUSI)-- A heat wave continues to impact San Diego County with another potentially record-breaking day forecasted for the desert.
Borrego Springs is expected to shatter a heat record for the second day in a row with 116 degrees forecasted by the National Weather Service. The desert neighborhood hit a record high of 116 degrees on Thursday, shattering its record of 114 degrees in 2014.

Borrego: 116° (Record: 114° in 2014)
Ramona: 104° (Record 101° in 2018)
Campo: 106° (Record 105° in 2018)
An Extreme Heat Warning in the desert and a Heat Advisory in the inland valleys and mountains will remain in effect until 8 pm on Friday.
Cooldown is incoming
NWS forecasted that highs are expected to drop gradually. By the middle of next week, temperatures inland are expected to be below average for this time of year.
