Police: Woman stole motorcycle during 'test drive' in St. Louis County

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - A woman stole a motorcycle during a "test drive" last month in St. Louis County, police say.

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office has charged Tania Harwick, 42, with one felony count of stealing a motor vehicle in connection with the theft.

According to a probable cause statement obtained by FOX 2, Harwick and a victim met over Facebook marketplace and discussed trading vehicles. On Aug. 22, they arranged a meeting outside a St. Louis County bar with the intention of the victim possibly trading his Suzuki motorcycle for Harwick's Infiniti G35 vehicle.

The victim first test drove the Infiniti G35 and returned. then allowed Harwick to test drive the motorcycle. Harwick allegedly "drove away from the location with the motorcycle and never returned," according to the probable cause statement.

Some time later, the victim became suspicious and discovered the Infiniti vehicle was stolen, prompting him to call police.

Officers served a search warrant and eventually located the motorcycle, leading to Harwick's arrest on Aug. 29.

Harwick has a preliminary hearing over the felony charge scheduled for Sept. 17, according to Missouri online court records.
