Police seek suspects, van used in mail theft in downtown St. Louis
ST. LOUIS - Police are searching for four unknown suspects and a van that was used to steal mail last week from the United States Postal Service (USPS) in downtown St. Louis.
According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police department (SLMPD), the incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 11 at the USPS building, located on the 1700 block of Market Street.
Police received a call for larceny around 5:30 p.m. at the USPS building. When officers arrived on the scene, they learned that four unknown suspects were involved in stealing mail from the building an hour prior.
According to SLMPD, the suspects of a van, believed to be a 2000's model Plymouth Voyager with no license plates, parked at the USPS building before three of the suspects exited the van and stole two totes of mail from the loading dock area. The van later left the scene after the incident.
Police say the driver of the van was described as a 'heavy-set' suspect wearing a white t-shirt, while the three suspects that exited the van to steal the mail were all seen wearing black clothing.
