Police search for man who tried to abduct child in Staunton, Illinois
STAUNTON, Ill. – Police in Macoupin County, Illinois, are looking for a man who approached and tried to take a small child playing a park.
According to a Staunton Police Department spokesperson, the incident happened on the afternoon of Saturday, Sept. 6 at Gypsy Hill Park.
Police received a 911 call at 5:15 p.m. that a child had been approached by an unidentified man who allegedly tried to abduct them. The man left in a van before officers arrived.
The individual is described as a white man, between 20 and 30 years of age, with a short beard, possibly bald, and wearing glasses.
The investigation remains ongoing.
