Over $750K worth of medicine stolen in pharmacy burglary
MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. - The Maryland Heights Police Department's Bureau of Investigations (BOI), as well as law enforcement agencies in Arkansas, assisted in the arrest of four men who allegedly burglarized a pharmacy.
Officials say the burglary happened on July 31 in Maryland Heights, where over 284 bottles of medication—totaling up to 26,000 pills—were stolen.
Detectives identified the controlled substances as Morphine, Oxycodone, OxyContin, Adderall and Methadone. The value of these drugs ranges from $750,000 to $1 million.
In a collaborative effort with out-of-state officials, the alleged suspects, Erik Lyons, Johnathan Fore, Omar Bartley White Jr. and Anthony Vanwright, were taken into custody in Clark County, Arkansas—the same day the alleged crimes occurred.
The Clark County Circuit Court charged all four men, who are natives of Houston, on Aug. 1. They all face eight counts of trafficking controlled substances, which is considered a Class Y felony under Arkansas law.
Maryland Heights Police says it's working with attorneys in Missouri for federal charges, and their investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
