North Park teacher suspected of distributing child sex abuse material

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A former faculty member at St. Augustine High School is facing allegations related to the distribution of child sexual abuse material, education officials said Wednesday after being informed by the FBI.

Ryan Segura, a 2016 graduate who taught religion at the North Park Catholic school for four years, was placed on administrative leave Tuesday, said Leona Stearns, St. Augustine High School's Administrative Assistant to the Principal, in a statement.

"At this time, there is no indication that any Saints students were affected. We are cooperating fully with the authorities and conducting our own thorough investigation," Stearns said.

The school says the "news is painful" and that they are committed to "the safety, dignity, and well-being of every Saintsman is unwavering."

No other details were released about the incident.
