North Carolina man steals $113K in stolen mail checks from St. Charles County business: Police
ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. - A North Carolina man is facing felony charges for allegedly stealing mail, which included checks, from a St. Charles County business.
According to records, 27-year-old Zymonte J. Gaynor pulled into a business around 3:40 a.m. on June 16. He was driving a silver vehicle while wearing a black hooded jacket, grey sweatpants, and dark colored shoes.
He walked up to the business, opened their mailbox, and took several items. The victim notified officials that the mailbox had contained "numerous" company checks.
At a later time, the victim was contacted by the business' bank, stating that 34 company checks were fraudulently cashed---totaling to $113,933.28.
Police were able to utilize surveillance cameras to identify Gaynor and determine he was driving a rental car. Video also confirmed he was wearing the same clothing as the suspect. Cellphone data revealed Gaynor was around the area of the business in the same time frame as the theft.
Last month, Gaynor was charged for stealing mail from blue collection boxes in Sunset Hills throughout the month of June, allegedly flying in shortly before the thefts. He was arrested in North Carolina in July on 75 counts of felony financial fraud.
In this case, Gaynor is charged with two counts of stealing a postal or delivery item. A judge assigned a $75,000 cash-only bond.
