Nonprofit creates guide to support families after homicide loss
ST. LOUIS - A nonprofit organization launched a guide that aims to help families navigate the grieving process after losing a loved one to a homicide.
The Marshall Project, a nonprofit organization, created the guide to provide support for families having difficulty dealing with the sudden death of a loved one. Marshall Project reporter Ivy Scott had the chance to speak to different families to determine what advice they wish someone had given them during their grieving process.
According to the organization, almost 2,000 people have died from homicide in the past 9 years in St. Louis, with nearly half of them never being solved.
Within the guide, families share their experiences, including the difficulty of understanding a police investigation and how police have shown support through small tasks.
