No shots fired at West County Mall, no injuries, police say

DES PERES, Mo. - Shots were not fired Saturday afternoon at West County Center shopping mall, according to the Des Peres Department of Public Safety.

Shoppers tell FOX 2 that the mall went into a lockdown around 2:30 p.m. after a reported disturbance.

Investigators with the Des Peres Department of Public Safety say police responded to a report of shots fired around that time.

"Our investigation of the scene did not support the original call for shots fired. However, there was a physical altercation between subjects near the food court," said the Des Peres Department of Public Safety.

A heavy presence of police officers gathered at the mall around 2:30 p.m.

Shoppers in contact with FOX 2 have told us a lockdown call from earlier has been lifted and people are now allowed to exit the mall.

Police did not report any injuries. "This investigation is continuing and at this time there are no injuries related to the original report," said the Des Peres Department of Public Safety.

Additional information is limited at this time. FOX 2 is sending a crew to the scene and working to confirm more details.

The mall is located at 80 W. County Center Drive, just off of Interstate 270 and Manchester Road.
