NGA's new $1.7B western campus set to open with ceremony in north St. Louis

ST. LOUIS - The new National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency's (NGA) Western Campus in north St. Louis is set to hold its opening ceremony on Friday morning.

The opening ceremony is set to take place at 10 a.m. Friday morning. The new NGA West headquarters, located on Jefferson at Cass in the St. Louis Place neighborhood, represents the largest federal investment in St. Louis history, with a $1.7 billion project spanning 97 acres.

The NGA plays a critical role in U.S. military intelligence by analyzing and interpreting satellite imagery, maps, and other location-based data to support military operations. The new campus is anticipated to be a hub for innovation and collaboration between government, academia, and the private sector.

More than 3,000 workers are expected to relocate from the NGA's current location near the Anheuser Busch Brewery in Soulard, where the agency has operated for years.

Construction on the new headquarters began in November 2019 after city officials successfully campaigned to keep the agency in St. Louis. NGA officials have stated that the agency is a world leader in providing timely, relevant, accurate, and actionable geospatial intelligence.
