New warrant served in Dittmer homicide probe
DITTMER, Mo. - A search and rescue team looks for clues in heavily dense woods near where a man was found dead in Jefferson County last weekend.
That man's wife remains missing.
The body of Robert Malcom, 60, was discovered last Saturday during a welfare check at his home on a secluded street in Dittmer.
On Friday, authorities combed the rural property, using K-9 units.
“It’s shocking. We don’t really have stuff like that happen around here,” said Faith Clack, a neighbor who lives nearby.
Friday's search appeared to turn up empty. A copy of the search warrant left on Malcom's front door stated, "nothing seized."
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office has remained relatively tight-lipped on this homicide investigation. They have said that they are searching for Malcom's wife, Stacy Jay-Malcom.
However, they have not named her a suspect or a potential victim. Investigators say that she is "unaccounted for," and they are working to determine her connection, if any, to the case.
Authorities have also not released details about Robert Malcom’s cause of death. The uncertainty has left the quiet community on edge.
“It kind of makes you afraid to let the kids out sometimes because you just don’t know who’s living down the street,” Clack said.
The sheriff’s office is asking anyone with information about Stacy Jay-Malcom's whereabouts to call 636-797-5515 or email crimetips@jeffcomo.org.
