New charges for piano teacher accused of child sex crimes
ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - A St. Louis-area piano teacher who was charged back in June for alleged child sex crimes is facing additional charges—this time in a different city.
According to court records, Daniel Yavitz, 38, was charged with three counts of statutory sodomy or attempted statutory sodomy in the City of St. Louis.
In a probable cause statement, it says that Yavitz kept a journal that detailed disturbing sexual encounters with little girls—one of the victims was a child he babysat between 2017 and 2025.
That victim was interviewed by and detailed the interactions with Yavitz, which led to the additional charges. The 38-year-old was previously charged for allegedly abusing one of his piano students in University City.
In June, a prosecuting attorney’s office spokesperson noted that Yavitz had a work history involving at least five school districts and institutions, including:
- Parkway School District
- Clayton School District
- University City School District
- University City Children’s Center
- Special School District of St. Louis County
- Latitude Therapy
St. Louis City, as well as the University City Police Department, is investigating the claims against Yavitz.
