Multiple vehicles burned in Clayton, police investigating
ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - Police are investigating suspicious fires early Tuesday morning that left multiple vehicles burned in Clayton.
According to the Clayton Police Department, the incident occurred just after 3 a.m. on the 7500 block of Westmoreland Avenue, near North Hanley Road.
The fires left at least three vehicles burned, police said. Two of the vehicles, a Mazda and a minivan, were parked along the street, while the third, a Toyota Highlander, was in a driveway to a home.
According to the police, an offensive message was spray-painted in the street in connection with the fires and targeted a resident in the area. At this point, police say the incident is not being called a hate crime.
No injuries have been reported. The St. Louis Regional Bomb and Arson Unit has been requested to assist in the investigation.
