Missouri troopers arrest 84 in St. Louis highway enforcement event
ST. LOUIS - Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers made 84 arrests during an enforcement event Wednesday on St. Louis highways.
MSHP reports that five Troop C troopers conducted a "saturation" operation on "interstates in St. Louis City." The operation resulted in 84 "traffic and physical custody arrests."
Officials say that enforcement events like Wednesday's are designed to improve public safety by targeting criminal activity and reckless driving.
Similar enforcement events have been carried out by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department in recent years, during which officers conducted traffic stops for speeding, improper lane usage and suspended licenses, among other things.
MSHP did not disclose the total number of traffic stops in the operation, nor how many specific traffic stops led to arrests.
