ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - Missouri State Sen. Brian Williams (D-14th District) has announced his campaign to run for St. Louis County Executive in the Democratic primary in August 2026 election.

Williams has represented the state's 14th Senatorial District since 2019. The district includes several municipalities in north- and mid-St. Louis County, including parts of University City, Ladue, Ferguson, Bridgeton and Hazelwood.

Sam Page is the incumbent St. Louis County Executive, also a Democrat. Last week, Page was indicted by a grand jury over allegations of using public funds on a flyer opposing a county ballot measure known as Proposition B.

Page was indicted on two counts of committing class four election offenses, one count of stealing $25,000 or more, and one count of stealing $750 or more.

If Page is convicted, it remains unclear whether Page will continue to hold office or how a conviction might affect the 2026 election for County Executive.

Williams is the first Democratic candidate to publicly announce a challenge for the seat.

“I have a proven record of working with others and turning bold ideas into results,” said
Senator Williams via a news release. “As County Executive, I will continue my work of focusing on building a stronger, safer, and more prosperous St. Louis region where every neighborhood has the chance to thrive.”

As a State Senator, Williams says he has championed policies that drive job creation, improve
education, expand healthcare access, and build safer, more connected neighborhoods.
