DITTMER, Mo. – A Jefferson County woman was found dead just over a week after her husband was found murdered in their home.
According to Sheriff Dave Marshak, deputies were called to a home for a welfare check on the 8000 block of Canyon Lane, approximately seven miles southwest of Dittmer, on Saturday, Aug. 30.
Deputies found the body of Robert Malcom inside the home. Malcom was 60. Investigators eventually determined he'd been murdered.
Malcom's wife, Stacy Jay-Malcom, could not be accounted for at the time her husband's body was discovered.
The sheriff's office and other agencies used drones, helicopters, and K9 units in their search for Jay-Malcom.
Jay-Malcom's body was discovered on Sunday, Sept. 7 in a wooded area on private property in the 8900 block of State Road WW, a short walk from their home. Her body was identified on Tuesday, Sept. 9.
The Jefferson County Medical Examiner's Office has not determined a cause of death. There were no obvious signs of trauma on the body, and evidence suggests a possible overdose.
While investigators suspect Jay-Malcom killed her husband, the sheriff's office will not make a final determination on the case.
