Mid-week cooldown brings cooler temperatures to St. Louis area
ST. LOUIS – What's in store for the FOX 2 viewing area this coming week? More clouds with some spots of sunshine.
We’ll be dealing with that Monday, as a mid-level spin in the Central Plains continues to pivot southeast and weaken. This will push rain chances Monday from western Missouri into southeastern Missouri and southwestern Illinois.
That will combat dry air at the surface and since this system has weakened more than previously mentioned, I think it will be fairly spotty. Overall, a dry but cloudy Labor Day with temperatures running below normal. Highs will be limited in the upper 70s to near 80 degrees with the lack of good sunshine.
We're monitoring another big cooldown headed our way on mid-week, with the arrival of a strong cold front. That rolls in on Wednesday, with the potential for scattered showers ahead of the front. There will be no exceptional relief from the ongoing drought with this system but what will be noticeable is the cooler air Thursday through next weekend. High temperatures will only hit the 70s, with overnight lows in the 40s and 50s.
