Metro East couple leading 'America's Favorite Couple' contest
ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Ill. - A Metro East couple is currently leading Variety's "America's Favorite Couple" contest, but they need more votes to secure the win.
Arla and David Chevess have been together for 35 years and are in the quarterfinals of the nationwide contest, competing for the title and a $20,000 prize.
The Chevesses first met on a blind date, and initially, they didn't like each other. However, their paths crossed again more than two years later, and they married just ten weeks after reconnecting.
Despite facing challenging times, the couple has found ways to show their love and support for each other. After Arla was injured in an accident, David helped her focus on the future by gifting her a camera and building a garden at their home, providing her with something beautiful to photograph each day.
There are only six days left before the semifinals, and the couple is urging supporters to vote for them to help secure their place in the next round. To learn more about the couple and to vote, click here.
