ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - A south St. Louis man was charged after stealing more than $5,000 from a St. Louis Bread Co. location in Richmond Heights.

According to a probable cause statement from the St. Louis County Police Department, the theft occurred at St. Louis Bread Co., located at 6734 Clayton Road, from February 2023 until March 2024.

Employees at the restaurant reported that the store manager, Kareem Davis (age not provided), had been stealing money from the restaurant's cash register. According to police, Davis had been stealing from the store for approximately 13 months until his termination.

Police said Davis stole the money by authorizing illegitimate cash refunds when no customers were at the restaurant. When officers looked over the store's surveillance video, they found Davis conducting the refunds and removing cash from the drawer before walking out of the view of the cameras.

According to police, an internal audit determined that Davis had stolen more than $5,000 from the store using the refund method.

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Davis with stealing – $750 or more. Davis was issued a criminal summons to appear in court on Monday, Oct. 6.
