Man with hypothermia rescued from Pacific Ocean off San Diego coast

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- First responders rescued a man with hypothermia from the Pacific Ocean in San Diego Thursday morning after a fisherman found him unresponsive in the water.

A man reportedly fell from a jetty into the Pacific Ocean near Mission Bay in San Diego around 10 a.m. Thursday and was spotted floating in the water, the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department confirmed.

The fisherman spotted the man and flagged down a Border Patrol boat, according to the fire-rescue department, which brought in San Diego Lifeguards and the Coast Guard to assist with rescuing the man.

Border Patrol agents were able to pull the man from the boat and wrap him in mylar blankets. He was taken to the hospital with hypothermia. His identity and condition were unknown as of Thursday evening.
