Man jailed for downtown gas station shooting
ST. LOUIS – A man with multiple prior convictions is back in jail for shooting another man outside a BP gas station in downtown St. Louis.
According to a probable cause statement from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the shooting occurred on Tuesday, Sept. 16, in the 900 block of South Broadway.
Police Hector A.J. Alejandro, 40, was already inside the gas station when the victim entered the business. Both men knew one another.
When Alejandro noticed the victim, he walked outside, went to his car, and retrieved a firearm, police said. Meanwhile, the victim armed himself with brass knuckles.
Alejandro went back inside the gas station and confronted the victim. Police said Alejandro swung the gun at the victim and ran outside.
The victim began to walk away from the gas station but came back. Police said Alejandro took out his gun and shot the victim.
The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office charged Alejandro with first-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm, and armed criminal action. Alejandro was jailed without bond. Online court records do not indicate when he’ll appear before a judge.
Alejandro has numerous felony convictions on his record, including third-degree assault of a special victim and unlawful possession of a firearm.
