Man injured in St. Louis stabbing dies nearly two weeks later
ST. LOUIS - A man injured in a St. Louis stabbing has died nearly two weeks later due to health complications, according to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.
The victim, a 50-year-old man, was stabbed around 6 a.m. on July 29 in the 200 block of Fassen Street in St. Louis' Carondelet neighborhood.
Police have not disclosed the victim's identity and are working to notify next of kin.
According to an SLMPD crime summary report, the victim told officer that he was stabbed during a fight and knew the suspect.
Police say the victim was conscious and breathing after the stabbing, and when he was initially taken to the hospital for his injuries, he was listed in critical, but stable condition.
The victim was released from the hospital on August 1. However, the victim returned to the hospital on August 7, "readmitted due to complications," according to police. The victim was pronounced deceased on August 10.
An autopsy determined the victim died from complications from his original injuries in the stabbing.
