Man charged with weekend fatal shooting in Dutchtown

ST. LOUIS – Charges have been filed in St. Louis Circuit Court after a fight ended in a fatal shooting in the city’s Dutchtown neighborhood.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s probable cause statement, the shooting happened around 2:40 p.m. Saturday in the 3600 block of Gasconade Street.

Witnesses told FOX 2 News that an altercation involving girls quickly escalated.

Police said Aakiem Thomas, 22, and his brother walked out of their mother’s home both armed with guns.

A man was arguing with Thomas’ mother while a woman sat in his vehicle.

The man turned and got back into his car. Police said Thomas fired two shots into the man’s car. Thomas’ brother also beginning shooting as the victims drove away.

The woman in the car was killed. Her identity has not been released. The man in the car suffered a graze wound.

The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office charged Thomas with first-degree murder, first-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, and three counts of armed criminal action. Thomas remains jailed without bond. Online court records did not show when he’ll appear before a judge.
