Man charged after St. Louis County AMBER Alert
ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - A suspect linked to a St. Louis County AMBER Alert on Monday now faces criminal charges.
The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office has charged Jacob Putnam, 30, with first-degree kidnapping, endangering the welfare of a child, stealing a motor vehicle and aggravated fleeing a stop.
An AMBER Alert was issued around 6 p.m. Monday in Sunset Hills. Police reported that a 30-year-old man was with a female associate near Kennerly Road attempting to jumpstart a truck that had been reported stolen.
When police arrived to the scene, Putnam allegedly took off in the woman’s vehicle without her, but with her child, a 2-year-old girl, still inside the back seat.
The girl was found safe a short time later near the 8400 block of Pennsylvania Avenue in south St. Louis. It's believed Putnam continued in a dark blue 2016 Chevrolet Cruze for some time.
Missouri online court records indicate Putnam has been charged, but have not yet disclosed whether he is in custody.
