Man arrested after fleeing from police in stolen motorcycle
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A man is in custody after taking off from a traffic stop while riding a reported stolen motorcycle Saturday evening.
A San Diego Police officer tried to pull over a stolen Harley Davidson motorcycle in the area of 3600 Dalbergia Street near the Southcrest neighborhood after 6 p.m. Saturday, the police department reports.
The motorcyclist took off fast, going around 90 to 100 mph, and went onto the highway, police said.
A police helicopter followed the motorcyclist until he crashed into bushes on Market Street after getting off I-805. Officers arrested him near Market and Denby streets after he was checked out by medical.
Following the crash, police had to cut into the fence to retrieve the motorcycle from behind bushes.
Part of I-805 was closed Saturday night as crews towed the motorcycle.
