Man arrested after alleged shooting threat against Del Mar City Hall

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A San Diego man was arrested for allegedly making threats to "shoot up" Del Mar City Hall, the San Diego County Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies with the North Coastal Sheriff's Station responded around 4:30 p.m. Thursday to a report of a criminal threat made by phone against staff at Del Mar City Hall, where a person called and made statements about "shooting up" the building.

Deputies conducted a safety sweep of City Hall and the Del Mar Civic Center and canceled a scheduled public concert.

The suspect was identified as Kyle Knudsen, 42, of San Diego, according to the sheriff's office. He was arrested by deputies and detectives outside of his home on Garnet Avenue later Thursday night, following an investigation.

The sheriff's office said a registered firearm was recovered at the scene, along with an illegal 15-round magazine, which is in violation of California Penal Code 32310.

Knudsen was booked into the Vista Detention Facility and faces charges of making criminal threats and possession of a large-capacity magazine.
