Local teen invited to 78th annual Motocross of Nations Tournament

SAN DIEGO -- Jaiden Stoffel loves to fly through the air on his motocross bike.

"You can't really describe it. It's just so freeing. Your worries go away and you just think about riding," says Jaiden Stoffel.

The Campo native earned a spot on Team USA Mxon for the 78th edition of the Motocross of Nations.

"I was stoked and it definitely prepared to put in a little bit more effort training wise," says Stoffel.

"A lot of the kids I race with practically live on the tracks. So, they come up four days a week, at least, but I go to public school," Stoffel explained. "So when I do go out here, I put in more effort than the other kids. I get here earlier before they open and stay after they close."

On Oct. 4, the Mount Empire freshman will face mostly 17-year-olds in Indiana for the Motocross of Nations.

"I'm still competitive with them. So if I can take those extra couple years that they're older than me by, I should be above their level," said Stoffel.
