Live updates: Senate slated to vote on Trump’s ‘big, beautiful bill’ Saturday

Senate Republicans are officially moving forward with President Trump’s “big, beautiful” megabill after weeks of scrambling to hit his July 4 deadline amid GOP pushback.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) said the package’s text is expected to be released Friday and votes to begin debating the legislation will take place at noon Saturday.
This week, the GOP hit several roadblocks as the Senate parliamentarian struck down key cost-cutting provisions in the spending bill, including proposed Medicaid cuts. Trump earlier on Friday even toned down his rhetoric about the Independence Day deadline, suggesting there was more breathing room amid the delays.
Republicans hold a 53-seat majority and can only afford three GOP defections on the bill to still pass it with a tie-breaking vote from Vice President Vance.
The momentum on Capitol Hill comes as Trump is taking a victory lap following a number of key wins at the Supreme Court earlier in the day.
The nation's top court ruled in favor of the administration in a long-awaited decision on his birthright citizenship order, which also limited the ability of judges to deliver nationwide injunctions.
The court also issued other remaining opinions, including one in which it sided with parents in Maryland who wanted to remove their children from classes that use books with LGBTQ characters and themes, citing their religious rights.
The court has also released opinions related to cases involving a challenge to Texas’s age-verification law for adult websites, a challenge to ObamaCare's preventative care requirements, and a matter involving the federal internet subsidiary program.
In a surprise move, the court said it would rehear arguments in a case involving Louisiana's congressional maps, which could impact the Voting Rights Act.
Trump on Friday also ended trade talks with Canada and said he would be instituting a new tariff on the northern neighbor over a digital service tax.
