Live updates: 'Rapid developments' delay Kirk case briefing in Utah; FBI releases photos, offers $100K reward

The FBI announced Thursday afternoon it is offering a reward of up to $100,000 for information that leads to the arrest of the person who killed conservative commentator Charlie Kirk the day prior.

Authorities earlier said they had recovered what they believed to be the rifle used in the killing, and the FBI released two images of a person of interest.

Utah officials delayed a scheduled afternoon press conference, citing "rapid developments" in the case.

Details in the shooting on the Utah Valley University campus have been slow to emerge. The FBI said Wednesday night it had questioned, cleared and released two people of interest.

Thursday also marks the 24th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, which killed 2,977 people in New York, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania.

In remarks made at the Pentagon to mark the attack there, President Trump said he would posthumously award Kirk with the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Later Thursday, he will attend the New York Yankees game in the Bronx.

Vice President Vance and second lady Usha Vance were initially scheduled to attend the ceremony at Ground Zero in Lower Manhattan, but changed their plans to pay their respects to Kirk's family in Utah.
