Lincoln County man charged after drinking in court, biting guard

TROY, Mo. - A man is in custody after interrupting a courtroom in Troy, Missouri, last week, according to records.

Billy Davis allegedly walked into a courtroom in the Lincoln County Justice Center Sept. 25 and sat directly next to an officer. The officer had been notified by a security guard that Davis was acting "belligerent" outside, and kept an eye on him.

Officials said Davis interrupted court continuously and failed to follow instructions given by the officer to "mind his manners."

He pulled out a clear bottle with an orange liquid in it---although there is no food or drink allowed in the room---and the officer attempted to speak to Davis when he began interrupting by talking toward the judge. When asked if he had been drinking, Davis allegedly clinched his fists, stood in a fighting stance, and told the officer it was none of his business.

Security guards were called in to aid the officer in removing Davis from the courtroom. The officer attempted to place Davis under arrest as he continued to disregard commands, but was met with resistance. Davis pulled away, jumped over an individual, yelled and bit the security guard in the arm. Additionally, the officer was left with a scratch and welt on his arm.

Despite being placed in handcuffs, Davis remained uncooperative, flailing his body to avoid being searched. However, police did find two 50mL bottles of 99 Proof 99 Apples in his pockets, according to records.

Davis was charged with two counts of third-degree assault and resisting arrest. He had two active arrest warrants for DWI and operating a vehicle in a careless manner/no insurance/no seatbelt.

He is being held on a $15,000 cash-only bond.
