Labor Day weekend safety tips from Cal Fire
(FOX 5/KUSI) -- As people gear up for Labor Day weekend, Cal Fire issued some reminders to help prevent brush fires.
The agency urges people to follow burn restrictions, ensure their campfires are completely out before they leave their campsites and make sure their vehicles are properly maintained.

In addition, they remind drivers to secure trailer chains to prevent them from dragging on the ground and increasing the chance of sparking a fire.
"Enjoy the long weekend, travel smart, and remember—it only takes one spark to start a wildfire," Cal Fire said in a post on its Facebook page.
One of the largest fires of California's 2020 wildfire season, the Creek Fire, began over Labor Day weekend that year and burned more than 370,000 acres over several months before it was fully contained in December.
The Creek Fire destroyed more than 850 structures.
According to the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services, the deadliest wildfire ever recorded in the Golden State also happened during the fall months. The Camp Fire, which began on Nov. 8, 2018, led to the deaths of 85 Californians and burned more than 150,000 acres.
