Details: Hinaus will open its space and present paintings, graphics, books, vinyl, decorative and floral art, including works that survived the blast and sustained damage.

The gallery has chosen Roma Mykhailov's work Business Lunch, damaged in the explosion, as the symbol of the fair. It will also be available for purchase.

"Let us consider this the opening of Hinaus. Or its very stubborn rehearsal. We are tuning the space to the right vibrations.

Important: please do not go to the upper floors. And it is better to smoke by the road," the team's message reads.

In addition to purchasing artworks, International Drone Day will take place in the space on 30 May from 13:00 to 20:00. An interactive installation of synthesisers and experimental instruments, created by Pererva, KYIVPASTRANS and Coschey Lab, will be installed in the gallery. Musicians will work with continuous drone sound for a live and online audience.

Background:

  • The Hinaus multidisciplinary cultural space was damaged in the Russian strike of 24 May, with windows blown out across the building. The space's curator and art director Olha Nosko said no one was injured.
  • Just days before the strike, Hinaus had presented the project Fountain of Fulfilment – a series of mosaics inspired by Skovoroda. As Olha noted, the work survived.
  • Damage to the space has been estimated at UAH 1.2 million (approx. US$27,000). The building requires major reconstruction. The gallery team noted that it is not collecting funds for restoration but is seeking businesses willing to jointly repair and reopen the building.
